Awabi shell is a different species of Abalone. It provides a mother of pearl look to it that is really beautiful. Awabi is also sometimes used to make buttons and jewelry because of its beautiful iridescence. The Awabi shell is cut into thin strips, then ever so delicately each strip is meticulously hand applied onto the pen tube. It is then cast in clear polyester resin
